By Belize Live News: Police are investigating a brazen shooting that occurred in the heart of downtown Belize City this morning.
The incident happened at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Albert Street, directly in front of the Belize Bank Business Centre, formerly the Scotiabank building.
Initial reports indicate that the victim was sitting inside a vehicle parked along the busy commercial street when he was targeted by a gunman.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots before police and emergency personnel quickly converged on the area. Officers removed the injured man from the vehicle and rushed him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
The extent of his injuries has not yet been officially disclosed.
The shooting occurred during one of the busiest periods of the day in downtown Belize City, where shoppers, business owners, workers, and visitors were moving through the area.
Police have since cordoned off the scene as investigators process evidence and attempt to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim or indicated whether any suspects have been detained.
