By Belize Live News Staff: A Belize Coast Guard officer is reportedly under investigation following a deadly motorcycle accident that claimed the life of his common-law wife Friday night in the Cayo District.
The fatal crash occurred along Santa Familia Road sometime around 10:20 p.m., leaving Auria Ramon, a mother of four, dead at the scene.
Initial reports indicate Ramon was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle when the driver allegedly lost control while heading toward Santa Familia Village. The impact caused catastrophic injuries to Ramon, who was pronounced dead shortly after emergency personnel arrived.
Officials say the motorcycle was reportedly being driven by Ramon’s common-law husband, who is believed to be an officer attached to the Belize Coast Guard.
Police quickly sealed off the area as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are expected to review road conditions, speed, and other possible contributing factors as part of the ongoing investigation.
The tragic incident has shocked residents in the area, with many expressing condolences to Ramon’s family and loved ones.
