Long-serving mayor seeks another mandate from Twin Towns residents

By Belize Live News Staff: Twin Towns Mayor Earl Trapp says he is not finished serving the people of San Ignacio and Santa Elena just yet.

During a UDP press conference last week, Trapp confirmed that he intends to run for a fifth consecutive term as mayor when municipal elections are held in March 2027.

Trapp described his years in office as a privilege and stated that he believes there is still important work left unfinished within the municipality. He emphasized that voters should decide the next election based on proven leadership and track record.

The announcement follows weeks of speculation that the long-serving mayor was preparing to exit politics amid reported divisions within the UDP’s western caucus. Instead, Trapp made it clear that he intends to once again place his leadership before the electorate.

As political discussions intensify across the country, many Belizeans are now debating whether Earl Trapp deserves another term leading the Twin Towns after more than a decade in office.
