By Belize Live News Staff: Political activity inside the ruling PUP is beginning to intensify as municipal election preparations continue nationwide.
Prime Minister John Briceño says several potential candidates are already positioning themselves ahead of conventions that could determine who represents the party in upcoming local elections.
While some municipalities may experience contested conventions, Briceño downplayed concerns about serious internal divisions. He specifically highlighted Orange Walk Town as an area where the current council remains strong and popular.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged growing interest in Belize City politics, where younger political figures are reportedly considering mayoral bids.
With municipal elections approaching, both major political parties are expected to ramp up internal campaigning and candidate selection efforts in the coming months.
