By Belize Live News Staff: A Mother’s Day celebration in Trial Farm was interrupted by gun violence Saturday night after gunmen opened fire near the basketball court area.
Authorities say police mobile patrols responded to the scene around 7:40 p.m. and discovered a man bleeding from the head from an apparent gunshot injury. Another person was also reportedly injured during the attack.
Investigators believe two suspects wearing camouflage clothing carried out the shooting before escaping toward the nearby river.
Following the incident, additional police officers were requested at the Northern Regional Hospital due to security concerns surrounding the victims and possible retaliation.
One of the victims later died while receiving treatment. Police investigations into the shooting continue.
