One dead, one injured in deadly Orange Walk shooting

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a delivery driver and left his co-worker injured along Chan Pine Ridge Road in the Orange Walk District.

Authorities say the incident occurred on April 28 when two employees responded to a delivery call and were ambushed by a masked gunman posing as a customer.

The driver, 42-year-old Roberto Villafranco, was fatally shot at the scene. His co-worker, Felipe Vasquez, sustained a gunshot injury and managed to flee to a nearby gas station where he sought help.

Police processed the scene and recovered expended shells. Vasquez is listed in stable condition.

Two individuals have since been detained as investigations into the murder and attempted murder continue.
