Suspicious bulge leads to foiled shoplifting attempt in Trial Farm

By Belize Live News Staff (HP): A sharp-eyed cashier helped prevent a theft at a supermarket in Trial Farm Village on Tuesday morning.

The employee became suspicious after noticing that a customer appeared to have items hidden around his waist. She quickly alerted the business owner, who approached the man near the cashier area.

At the time, the man was attempting to pay for a single item, but when confronted, he was asked to reveal what he had concealed.

He then pulled out two items, a bottle of mouthwash and a body wash, both of which had not been paid for.

The items were recovered before any loss occurred.

Moments later, the individual left the store and ran off, but police have since detained a suspect as investigations continue.

Authorities have also reviewed surveillance footage from the business, which is expected to support the case.
