Over 100 vehicles searched as police flood George Price Highway for major operation

By Belize Live News Staff: A joint police operation in Succotz Village led to the inspection of over a hundred vehicles and the issuance of several traffic tickets earlier this week.

According to authorities, the checkpoint was set up along the George Price Highway on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, between 8:50 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Officers targeted a range of offences, including illegal immigration, firearms, drugs, and traffic violations.

During the operation, approximately 120 vehicles were checked, resulting in six drivers being ticketed for various traffic offences, primarily related to defective brake lights and other safety violations.

One individual was also detained and subsequently charged for driving a vehicle without valid third-party insurance coverage.

Police say the checkpoint formed part of ongoing efforts to maintain road safety and deter criminal activity, noting that the exercise was carried out without any major incidents.
