By Belize Live News Staff: A shoplifting incident at a supermarket in Orange Walk Town resulted in the arrest of a man and minor injuries to the store owner.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2026, at Aaron Superstore on Corozal Road. The owner noticed a man inside the store who allegedly took items from a shelf and concealed them on his person.

When confronted, the suspect reportedly resisted and managed to escape despite attempts by the owner and an employee to detain him. The owner suffered an injured finger during the encounter.

Police later detained the individual and transported him to the Orange Walk Police Station, where his identity was confirmed and he was informed of the offence.

The following day, he was formally charged with theft. Authorities say the value of the stolen items was minimal, but the matter was pursued due to the circumstances of the incident.
