By Belize Live News Staff: A routine police patrol in Dangriga Town escalated into a short pursuit early Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of a motorcycle rider.
Authorities say that shortly after 1:00 a.m. on April 8, 2026, officers on mobile patrol observed a man riding a green Lifan motorcycle along Melinda Road. When signaled to stop, the rider allegedly refused and attempted to evade police.
A chase ensued, but the rider eventually lost control of the motorcycle. Police then approached the individual and requested his driving documents.
The rider was unable to produce a valid driver’s license, insurance, or license sticker. As a result, he was informed of multiple traffic offences.
He has since been formally arrested and charged with several violations, including driving without insurance, driving without a license, and operating an unlicensed motor vehicle.
Police continue to remind motorists to comply with traffic regulations to avoid similar incidents.
