By Belize Live News Staff: A 26-year-old woman has been remanded to prison following a domestic dispute that allegedly left her common-law partner with multiple injuries.
The incident was heard in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where the accused appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate. She was charged with wounding her 42-year-old partner.
According to reports, the altercation began after the man answered a phone call, which reportedly led to accusations of infidelity. Police say the situation escalated when the woman allegedly returned with a knife and later broke a pint bottle, using it to inflict injuries.
The complainant reported that he was cut to the throat and stabbed twice to the upper back as he attempted to walk away from the confrontation.
A plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf, and she has since been remanded to prison. She is expected to return to court on May 13 as the matter continues.
