By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing has issued a public advisory regarding hazardous conditions along the Corozal–Sarteneja road.
Officials report that a 200-meter stretch near the south approach to the Pueblo Nuevo Bridge is experiencing unusual settlement and periodic flooding, possibly linked to tidal activity from a nearby lagoon.
To maintain access, MIDH is undertaking temporary repairs and marking the narrowed roadway to ensure safe passage.
However, authorities are cautioning drivers to exercise extreme care when traveling through the area. Speed should be reduced and warning signs strictly observed.
Should floodwaters rise and overtake the roadway, the Ministry may close the affected section and reroute traffic through San Estevan.
The public is thanked for its cooperation in observing safety measures.
