No lobster allowed from March 1st

By Belize Live News Staff: The Fisheries Department is urging fishers to prepare for the upcoming closed season for the Caribbean Spiny Lobster.

The season ends on February 28th, with the closed period taking effect from March 1st through June 30th. The measure forms part of Belize’s commitment to sustainable fisheries management and regional conservation standards.

During the closed season, no lobster may be fished, sold, purchased, or possessed. Authorities warn that strict enforcement measures will be in place, including inspections and the removal of lobster traps from the sea.

The Department is encouraging the public to report any illegal fisheries activities and to cooperate in preserving Belize’s marine resources.
