Dr. Harold Young named Belize’s permanent representative in Geneva

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize has a new Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

Prime Minister John Briceño has appointed Dr. Harold A. Young to the post, with credentials formally presented on February 16, 2026.

Dr. Young previously served in academia both locally and internationally, most recently as an Associate Professor at Austin Peay State University. He has also contributed to the University of Belize as an academic advisor.

He holds a doctorate in Public Law from Georgia State University. His dissertation focused on extraterritorial courts and the experience of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Dr. Young is expected to also receive accreditation to the World Trade Organization.
