Road policing operation targets drunk drivers on Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway

By Belize Live News Staff: Police and DOT wardens carried out a joint road policing operation early Sunday morning aimed at targeting drunk drivers along the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway.

The operation took place on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, between 2:15 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., led by the Punta Gorda Road Policing Unit along with DOT wardens from Punta Gorda, Dangriga, and Independence.

Authorities say the team consisted of 10 wardens, split into two groups, and checkpoints were established at Cattle Landing near Roots Rock Reggae and at Forest Home Village near the bus stop.

During the operation, a total of 100 motor vehicles were checked and 11 traffic tickets were issued. Police say the road policing efforts concluded peacefully, with body cameras, traffic vests, cones, and signs utilized throughout.
