By Belize Live News Staff: Police in San Pedro Town are investigating a burglary report after a woman alleged that her ex common-law partner broke into her house following a misunderstanding.
The report was made on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, at about 1:00 a.m., when the woman, 37, a Belizean domestic worker, visited the San Pedro Police Station.
The woman reported that around 10:00 p.m., she asked her ex common-law partner to watch their daughter while she went out. She said he agreed, picked up the child, and took her to his house.
She stated that at about 10:30 p.m., she left her 12×14 cement structure home, blue and white in color, locked and in good condition. Later, while socializing at Carts Stop Bar and Grill, she received a call around 11:00 p.m. from her ex saying he was ready to return their daughter.
Police say an argument then developed between the two, after which he allegedly sent her a video showing that he had already broken into her home and left the child inside her room.
The woman returned home and reportedly found the front door open and the lock broken. The lock was valued at $600 Belize.
Police processed the scene and the suspect is listed as wanted as investigations continue.
