KHMHA cites prematurity and birth defects as factors in recent infant losses

By  Belize Live News Staff: Amid increasing public concern over neonatal and pediatric care, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority has broken its silence with a press release responding to the reports.

KHMHA says it is aware of the media coverage and public discussion surrounding recent infant deaths and emphasized that it shares in the grief of affected families. The Authority stated that it has remained in contact with parents and continues to provide support, compassion, and engagement.

According to KHMHA, many of the infants treated at the hospital are extremely delicate cases, often dealing with multiple health challenges such as prematurity and other medical complications, making them highly vulnerable.

The Authority also highlighted its legal and ethical duty to maintain patient confidentiality while following mandatory reporting requirements. KHMHA says it remains committed to transparency and will address all concerns through the proper clinical and administrative processes.

The hospital ended by thanking the public for its concern and asking for patience as the matters are handled, reaffirming its commitment to quality care under its motto: “We Take Care of You.”
