By Belize Live News Staff: Police carried out a Meet & Greet Operation in the Petville area of Orange Walk Town on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community relations.
The operation took place between 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and was led by Inspector Desmond Francisco, Deputy Officer Commanding, and Inspector Erika Flowers, Deputy Administration. They were accompanied by Community Oriented Police Officers and a representative from the RPU.
During the operation, officers visited seven homes in the area. Although Petville is still under development, police said the engagement was important to address residents’ concerns and maintain a visible police presence.
Residents raised concerns about poor lighting in parts of the area and reported that unknown vehicles often frequent the neighborhood at night. According to residents, some occupants of these vehicles may be consuming alcohol and engaging in illegal activities.
Police say residents requested increased police patrols, particularly on weekends. Despite the concerns raised, residents expressed appreciation for the police presence. The operation concluded peacefully with no incidents reported.
