Initial reports indicate that the rider was traveling along a roadway when he struck a mound of sand left on the side of the road, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. The impact reportedly flung the rider onto the pavement, where he sustained fatal injuries.
Emergency responders were alerted, but the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending official procedures.
