Suspected cannabis recovered after man drops plastic bag

By  Belize Live News Staff: Police have detained a man following the discovery of suspected cannabis during a quick response patrol conducted in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers say the incident occurred around 1:55 a.m. while they were patrolling Aurora Street. During the patrol, police noticed a man who reportedly threw a plastic bag to the ground as officers approached.

A search of the area led to the recovery of a bag containing green leafy material believed to be cannabis. The suspect was informed of the offence and taken to the police station for further processing.

At the station, the suspected substance was weighed and recorded at 15.7 grams. The man was later identified as a labourer from Palmetto Street and remains in police custody pending formal charges.

Police continue to urge the public to comply with the law as routine patrols remain ongoing.
