By Belize Live News Staff: Motorists traveling on major highways this Sunday should prepare for traffic delays as oversized bridge trusses are transported across the country.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing announced that the movement of large truss segments for the Santa Familia Bridge project will take place during daylight hours on January 11, starting at 9:00 a.m. The transport will involve heavy equipment and will span multiple highways, including the Philip Goldson and George Price highways.
Officials say the transport operation requires heightened safety measures due to the size of the load, which will occupy most of the roadway. Drivers traveling in the opposite direction may be asked to temporarily pull off the road to allow the convoy to pass safely.
The Ministry is urging all road users to remain vigilant, comply with posted warnings, follow traffic escorts, and exercise patience during the operation to ensure the safety of both motorists and construction crews.
