By Belize Live News Staff: A major development has been made in the investigation into the murder of James Kelvin Bainton, following the arrest and charging of a suspect on Friday.
Police confirmed that John Carlos Quilter, 24, was formally charged with murder in connection with Bainton’s death, which occurred on May 4, 2023, in Ladyville Village. The victim, James Kelvin Bainton, was 21 years old at the time of his death.
Authorities say the arrest was carried out after guidance was received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, leading to the issuance of a warrant. Quilter was informed of the charge, cautioned, and advised of his constitutional rights.
Police indicate that the accused requested a phone call, which was granted, and the matter is now proceeding through the judicial system.
