Joint traffic operation checks hundreds of vehicles

By Belize Live News Staff: A joint traffic enforcement operation carried out in the Orange Walk District resulted in multiple traffic violations being recorded.

Police say the early morning operation took place on Monday between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. along the Philip Goldson Highway and Guinea Grass Road. The operation was conducted by traffic police in collaboration with the Department of Transport’s Orange Walk branch.

The main objective of the exercise was to address concerns about buses operating with only one road service permit while running multiple units along the highway. Officers also conducted general checks on other vehicles.

In total, about 450 vehicles were inspected. Ten traffic tickets were issued for various offences, while the majority of motorists were found to be in compliance.

Police say the operation concluded smoothly and similar enforcement activities are expected to continue.
