Orange Walk man charged for carrying illegal blade

By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk have charged a man following the seizure of a pocketknife during an early morning patrol.

According to police, officers were on mobile patrol along Aurora Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. when they observed a male person standing on the roadside. A search was conducted, during which officers found a black pocketknife on his person.

Further checks revealed that the blade measured more than three inches, which constitutes an offence under the law. The man was escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station, where the knife was measured using a ruler and secured as evidence in his presence.

The accused, identified as a 37-year-old labourer of Baeza Street, was subsequently charged for possession of an article with blade. He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Police continue to remind the public of the laws governing the possession of sharp instruments.
