By Belize Live News Staff: Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) held urgent discussions early Saturday after reports emerged of military action taking place in Venezuela.
In a statement issued by the CARICOM Secretariat, the regional body said it is closely tracking the developing situation, describing it as a matter of serious concern with possible consequences for neighbouring countries.
CARICOM said regional leaders are assessing the potential implications for security and stability across the Caribbean, particularly for states closest to Venezuela. The organization indicated that it will continue to share updates with the public as more confirmed information becomes available.
The emergency discussions come amid heightened uncertainty in the region as international attention remains focused on Venezuela and evolving reports from the country.
CARICOM’s Secretariat, which coordinates the Community’s work on foreign policy and security matters, is based in Georgetown, Guyana.
