By Belize Live News Staff: A road safety enforcement exercise was carried out in Punta Gorda on Friday as police intensified traffic monitoring across the district.
The Punta Gorda Road Policing Unit, along with wardens from the Department of Transport, conducted highway patrols along the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway, covering the stretch from Punta Gorda Town to San Marcus Junction. Traffic enforcement was also extended to key streets and residential areas within the town.
According to police, the patrol focused on traffic compliance and public safety and was completed without any disturbances.
During the operation, officers issued two traffic violation tickets. One motorist was ticketed for failing to obey a traffic sign, while another was cited for transporting excessive passengers on a motorcycle.
Authorities say such joint patrols will continue in an effort to promote safer road use and reduce traffic-related incidents in the Toledo District.
