New Year’s Day struggle: Woman fights off armed intruders

By Belize News Staff: Police are continuing investigations following an armed incident reported in San Jose Village that resulted in injuries to a female resident.

Initial information indicated that trial farm personnel were asked to proceed to San Jose Village after reports were received of an altercation involving a firearm. Police responded and found that two masked male persons had allegedly entered a residence while the homeowner was present.

During the encounter, the woman reportedly attempted to secure a firearm seen in the possession of one of the suspects. A struggle ensued, during which she was pushed to the ground and sustained injuries.

Police later observed that the residence had been ransacked. The injured woman was transported to hospital after being issued a medico-legal form. No suspects were detained at the scene, and the men reportedly fled prior to police arrival.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area, and police investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
