ATM and Barton Creek remain open to visitors

By Belize Live News Staff: The Institute of Archaeology has issued an advisory regarding operations at several western archaeological sites as of early Thursday morning.

According to the advisory issued at 6:10 a.m., the Xunantunich ferry is currently operating with three vehicle crossings entering the site and two vehicle exits in order to ensure proper balance of the ferry. Motor vehicle operators are being urged to exercise caution while using the service.

The Institute further advised that Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) and Barton Creek Archaeological Reserves remain open for visitation.

However, Nooch Che’en Archaeological Reserve has been temporarily closed due to elevated river conditions. The Institute of Archaeology says it continues to monitor the situation and will provide an update at 8:00 a.m.
