Rider charged after being stopped without lights or helmet

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred in Belize City on Sunday afternoon, 21st December 2025.

Reports indicate that at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Belizean delivery man was conducting a delivery at a business on St. Peter’s Street when he was confronted by an armed individual.

The suspect was described as a slim-built male of dark complexion, dressed in a white shirt, black three-quarter pants, and wearing a black helmet and black face mask. The suspect allegedly pointed a black handgun at the delivery man and demanded his belongings.

During the confrontation, the delivery man pushed the firearm away, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect reportedly attempted to search the victim’s pockets while continuing to point the weapon at him.

The situation was interrupted when two individuals from a nearby yard shouted at the suspect, causing him to retreat. The victim then noticed a second male person waiting nearby on a black and white dirt bike.

Both suspects fled the scene on the motorcycle, heading in the direction of Sixth Street. No items were taken.

Police later recorded a formal statement from the complainant, canvassed the surrounding area, and reviewed surveillance footage. Investigations remain ongoing.
