By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Home Affairs and Enterprise has announced that the Corozal Free Zone will be temporarily opened to Belizeans on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025.
In a statement issued from Belmopan on Monday, 22nd December 2025, the ministry informed the public that Belizeans will be allowed to enter the Free Zone to shop during the one-day opening.
The ministry noted that shopping will be restricted to general goods at the retail level. Alcoholic beverages, spirits, and cigarettes will not be included in the items permitted for purchase.
Additionally, all items purchased in the Corozal Free Zone will be subject to applicable import duties and taxes upon re-entry into the Belize Customs territory.
The ministry did not indicate whether additional openings are planned.
