Bullet Tree man killed after being knocked down on village road

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating a fatal road traffic accident that claimed the life of a Bullet Tree Village resident early this morning.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m., officers and emergency responders were dispatched to Bullet Tree Road, approximately a quarter mile outside the village, following reports of a knockdown. Upon arrival, they found 31-year-old Mark Bul, a security guard, unresponsive inside an ambulance from Santa Elena.

According to emergency medical technicians, Bul lost his pulse at around 1:00 a.m. He suffered injuries to the back of the head, which police believe were caused when he was struck by a vehicle.

A Toyota 4Runner involved in the incident was found with front-end damage. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Julio Cesar Valdez, a paralegal from 18th Street, San Ignacio, was traveling toward Bullet Tree Village at the time of the accident.

As part of standard procedure, police took a blood sample from Valdez and impounded the vehicle. Investigations into the fatal incident are ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the accident.
