Belize Port Authority confirms Caribbean Sprinter ran aground in mangrove area

By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Port Authority (BPA) has confirmed a marine incident involving a Caribbean Sprinter commercial vessel that ran aground in a mangrove area.

In a press release issued today, the BPA stated that upon being notified of the incident, its personnel, including a coxswain and crew, were dispatched to the scene to assist with passenger safety and coordination efforts alongside the vessel operator.

All passengers were accounted for, and one passenger is currently undergoing medical assessment, with appropriate care arrangements in place.

The Authority further reported that it worked in coordination with the operator to facilitate the safe transfer of passengers to an alternate vessel, allowing them to continue to their destinations safely.

Assessments remain ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding the incident will be reviewed in accordance with maritime safety, environmental protection, and regulatory requirements. A full report will be issued once evaluations are completed.
