By Belize Live News Staff: As police continue investigations into the ruthless double murder on the Hummingbird Highway, the mother of one of the slain delivery workers has shared her anguish, saying her family has been permanently shattered.
Police confirmed that the victims were found after officers responded to a robbery report involving a Sarita delivery truck. The truck was discovered abandoned and locked along the highway, with no cash inside. The bodies of the two men were later found on a nearby feeder road, both suffering fatal gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigators say the crime appears to have occurred hours earlier, with GPS data indicating the truck had been stationary since mid-afternoon. Evidence recovered at the scene includes a spent shell casing and a live round.
The grieving mother described her son as a positive and humble young man who worked hard to support his family. She said the pain of losing him is overwhelming, especially knowing that his infant daughter will now grow up without a father.
The double killing has sparked national outrage and renewed concerns about safety along Belize’s major highways. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the robbery and murders to come forward as investigations continue.
