By Belize Live News Staff: A ferry worker from San Estevan Village has filed a police report after he was struck by the ferry handle while attempting to assist a boat that allegedly sped forward without warning.
The incident happened around 3:00 pm on December 7. The operator said a green and white boat approached, and he signaled the captain to slow. While lowering the ferry cable, the vessel reportedly accelerated, causing the handle to hit him and inflict a cut wound to his right arm.
The boat operator reportedly sped off immediately after the incident. The ferry worker later learned the man is commonly known as “Rastaman James.”
The injury was certified as wounding, and police have launched an investigation.
