By Belize Live News Staff: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has announced that E. Andrew Marshalleck, S.C., will conclude his tenure as Chairman of the Board of Directors on December 31, 2025. Marshalleck has served in the post since December 2020.
During his leadership, BEL completed major upgrades to strengthen grid reliability, including the addition of 30 megawatts of generation and 92 MVA of transmission substation capacity. These improvements contributed to a more than 30 percent reduction in outages compared to pre-2021 levels.
BEL also signed the country’s first-ever utility-scale solar power purchase agreement, expanded commercial solar solutions, and enhanced customer service through innovations such as the BEL 24/7 app, customer rewards, and a revamped connection program.
Electricity rates fell by 2.3 percent during his tenure despite sharp inflation, though rising regional energy costs have prompted BEL to request an adjustment for 2026. Marshalleck has advocated for regulatory reforms and lower-cost generation procurement to support long-term energy sustainability.
BEL expressed gratitude for his service, noting his commitment to responsible governance and a people-focused leadership approach.
