Placencia welcomes runners as annual End of the World Marathon begins

By Belize Live News Staff: Placencia came alive early this morning as runners gathered for the start of the annual End of the World Marathon and Half Marathon. Known for its breathtaking views, the race route winds along the peninsula with ocean and lagoon scenery that has made it a bucket list event for athletes worldwide.

The run is supported by an enthusiastic network of community volunteers, businesses, and families who set up water stations and cheer zones throughout the course. The Best Water Station competition remains a favorite, showcasing creativity and village spirit.

More than just a race, the event raises funds for academic scholarships for Belizean students. Each registration contributes directly to supporting high school, university, and trade school education, giving the marathon a purpose that resonates far beyond the finish line.

Runners visiting Placencia for the event are also encouraged to enjoy a full Belize experience. With resorts, beaches, adventure tours, and cultural attractions throughout the region, the marathon has grown into both a sporting challenge and a December tourism highlight.
