By Belize Live News Staff: A bus traveling along the Philip Goldson Highway caught fire late this morning near Carmelita Village in the Orange Walk District. The incident occurred on the northbound lane, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and drawing the attention of passing motorists.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the bus company, the number of passengers, or whether anyone was injured. Firefighters and police were seen on the scene shortly after, working to contain the blaze. The Trial Farm mobile unit was among the first responders at the location.

Eyewitness images show the bus pulled off the roadway with heavy smoke billowing from the rear section. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Motorists traveling through the area experienced delays, but traffic has since begun to normalize as emergency teams clear the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
