Woman alleges ex-partner choked and threw her during domestic attack

By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk are investigating a domestic violence incident in San Lazaro Village after a woman reported being assaulted inside her home on the night of November 28, 2025. The report was filed the following day, prompting authorities to initiate a search for the alleged attacker.

According to the account provided, the woman was showering when her former partner arrived at the residence in an intoxicated state and began directing accusations and verbal insults at her. She told investigators that after she left the bathroom and entered the kitchen, the confrontation escalated into physical violence.

The man allegedly pushed her against a kitchen table before placing his hands around her neck, causing her pain and fear for her safety. She managed to break free and move toward the living room, but the assailant reportedly followed, grabbed her by the arms, and threw her to the ground.

The victim said she escaped with her young son and secured herself inside a bedroom until the situation de-escalated.

She was later issued a medico-legal form, and a doctor certified her injuries as harm. Police have declared the man wanted as the investigation continues and court action is being pursued.
