By Belize Live News Staff: A 46-year-old woman from Guinea Grass Village has reported receiving a direct death threat that left her fearing for her life. The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, while she was sitting on her veranda with her husband.
According to the report, Andres Asuncion Copo, a man known to her since childhood, walked up to her gate, began insulting her, and allegedly threatened to retrieve a firearm and shoot her. She stated that the confrontation stemmed from an ongoing land dispute between them and that she genuinely feared he intended to harm her.
Police recorded her statement and later visited the residence of 37-year-old Andres Asuncion Copo, a Belizean labourer of Guinea Grass Village. He was detained and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.
At the station, Copo was informed of the allegation, cautioned, and advised of his constitutional rights. He remains detained pending formal charges.
