Belize and Portugal reaffirm diplomatic partnership with new agreement

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize and Portugal have taken an important step toward strengthening their diplomatic partnership with the signing of an agreement establishing formal political consultations between the two countries. The agreement was signed today by Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Dr. Ana Isabel Xavier, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The new mechanism will enable both countries to engage regularly on bilateral priorities, explore new areas of cooperation, and support coordinated efforts on shared global and regional issues. It marks a renewed commitment to structured diplomatic dialogue.

The signing followed a high-level bilateral meeting led by H.E. Amalia Mai and Dr. Xavier, where officials discussed opportunities for collaboration and reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Belize and Portugal
