Mother and teen brutally attacked in violent domestic assault; suspect detained

By Belize Live News Staff: Police in San Victor Street, Orange Walk, responded to a distressing case of domestic violence after a woman and her teenage son were allegedly assaulted by her intoxicated common-law partner early this morning.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 1 a.m., when the man arrived home under the influence and initiated an argument. During the confrontation, he allegedly pulled the woman by the hair, resulting in visible injuries to her face, including a scrape and a bruised lip.

Her 16-year-old son stepped in to assist, at which point the accused allegedly grabbed him by the hair and punched him in the face.

Both victims were issued medico forms for evaluation. The woman stated she will formalize her complaint with police later today. Meanwhile, police have detained the accused while the investigation continues.

Police continue to stress the importance of reporting domestic abuse promptly to prevent escalation and safeguard vulnerable family members.
