By Belize Live News Staff: Barefoot Services was celebrated last night at the Belize Tourism Board’s 2025 National Tourism Awards Gala where it claimed the highly coveted Tour Operator of the Year award. The company was recognized for designing exceptional tours that showcase Belize’s diverse landscapes, cultural richness, and adventurous appeal. Judges highlighted the company’s strong operational standards, exceptional guest service, and its commitment to safety, qualities that continue to set Barefoot Services apart in a competitive tourism market.
The award marks a major achievement for the Placencia-based company, whose growth over the years has been driven by the passion and vision of founders Ian and Megs Yearwood. Barefoot Services has earned a reputation for dependable service, meticulous planning, and a guest-first approach that elevates the travel experience.
Barefoot Services’ national win comes on the heels of major international recognition, as the company was recently named Belize’s sole recipient of the 2025 Global Tourism Excellence (GTE) Awards. The GTE Awards are globally respected and based entirely on verified reviews, not applications or sponsorships, making them one of the industry’s most credible measures of guest satisfaction.
Beyond business success, Barefoot Services remains active in community engagement. Its collaboration with the Crocodile Research Coalition earlier this year brought Placencia’s first-ever Battle of the Paddles kayak race to life, raising awareness about lagoon conservation while uniting residents and visitors. Co-founder Megs Yearwood has also been recognized by BTB as a trailblazer in its “She Leads, We Celebrate” campaign.
With both national and international honors earned within the same year, Barefoot Services continues to elevate Belize’s tourism profile, demonstrating how passion, professionalism, and authenticity can drive a company to new heights.
