By Belize Live News Staff: A domestic disturbance report on Wednesday night, November 19th, 2025, led police to uncover suspected drugs inside a home on Tangerine Street, Orange Walk Town.
Around 8:00 p.m., Quick Response Team officers visited a peach-colored two-storey residence after receiving information that a woman was reportedly locked inside a bathroom. Upon entering the fenced property, police met Abner Romero, who identified himself as the homeowner and granted permission for officers to search the premises.
The downstairs section was secure and revealed no incident. However, during checks upstairs, officers detected a strong aroma of cannabis coming from a partially opened room. After being advised of the smell, Mr. Romero consented to a search of the room.
Inside, officers found a black Everest school bag containing a yellow plastic bag with two plastic wrappings of green leafy material suspected to be cannabis. A second search uncovered a black Champion school bag containing a blue plastic bag with five plastic wrappings of additional suspected cannabis.
Mr. Romero was shown the findings and informed of the offence of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. He was arrested, cautioned, and his constitutional rights were read. He was then escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the suspected drugs, which remained in his view during transport.
Police continue their investigation into the incident.
