By Belize Live News Staff: The Miss Universe competition has been shaken by drama and controversy after several contestants walked out of the sashing ceremony in Thailand on Tuesday. Reports indicate that Miss Mexico was allegedly disrespected by the Thai pageant director, prompting a solidarity walkout among contestants — including Miss Universe Belize, Isabella Zabaneh.
Zabaneh’s participation in the walkout sparked speculation about whether she could face sanctions or disqualification from the global competition.
In response, the Miss Universe Belize Foundation issued a statement confirming that they are in constant communication with Zabaneh and that they fully support her decision to stand in solidarity with other contestants.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Organization released a separate statement saying a high-level delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer Mario Bucaro, is on its way to Thailand to help mediate the dispute.
Despite the controversy, organizers have confirmed that all scheduled events and activities will continue as planned. Belizeans have rallied online in support of their beauty ambassador, praising her for taking a stand for respect and unity among contestants.
