By Belize Live News Staff : Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung welcomed Belizean ministers Louis Zabaneh and Michel Chebat to Taipei on October 29 for discussions on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Lin highlighted the close ties between Taiwan and Belize, describing them as partners in shared growth and prosperity. He said both nations are moving forward together in areas such as green energy, electric mobility, and sustainable development, underlining Taiwan’s commitment to advancing joint progress through its Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project.
Zabaneh thanked Taiwan for its ongoing support to Belize and noted the importance of Taiwan’s decision to open zero-tariff access for Belize’s frozen white shrimp exports, calling it a positive step for trade relations.
Chebat praised Taiwan’s leadership in solar energy innovation, adding that he hopes to see more cooperation between Taiwanese companies and Belizean students to promote skills development and technology transfer.
The meeting also included Deputy Minister Lin Kuo-shian, Ambassador Katherine Vanessa Meighan, and representatives of Taiwan’s electric vehicle industry, who explored opportunities for investment and smart transportation initiatives.
