By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize reports that a light northwesterly airflow continues to dominate weather conditions across the country, maintaining fair and warm weather for most areas.
The 24-hour forecast calls for sunny skies with a few cloudy spells today and partly cloudy to cloudy skies tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will be isolated, with a few more likely over offshore areas this morning and tonight.
Over the sea, winds will blow from the north to northwest at 5–15 knots, creating choppy to moderate seas with waves between 3 and 6 feet.
Temperatures will peak near 88°F along the coast, 93°F inland, and 82°F in the hills. Tonight, lows will fall to 77°F, 72°F, and 68°F, respectively.
In the tropical weather outlook, Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 system, is located about 115 miles west-southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, moving slowly north-northeast with maximum sustained winds of 175 mph. The Met Service assures that Melissa poses no threat to Belize.
The outlook for Wednesday and Wednesday night calls for increasing showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon, as a cold front approaches the area.
