By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect another day of generally fair weather, as a light north to northeasterly airflow continues to dominate conditions across the country, according to the National Meteorological Service (NMS).
Forecaster Michelle Augustine reports that today will be sunny with some cloudy spells, accompanied by a medium chance of a few coastal showers. Tonight will see partly cloudy skies with isolated showers.
Winds will blow from the north to northeast at 5 to 15 knots, and the sea will be choppy, with waves between 3 to 5 feet.
Daytime highs will reach 91°F inland (33°C), 87°F along the coast (31°C), and 81°F in the hills (27°C).
Meanwhile, Hurricane Melissa has strengthened to a Category 4 system, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 mph as it moves slowly west at 5 mph. At 6:00 a.m., the storm’s center was located 120 miles south-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica.
The NMS reassures Belizeans that Melissa poses no threat to the country, but forecasters will continue to monitor its progress over the Caribbean Sea.
For Monday, conditions are expected to remain mostly the same, with isolated showers and a slight increase in activity along the north coast Monday night.
