By Belize Live News Staff: Teachers, students, and parents of Mary Hill R.C. School in Corozal woke up to distressing news on Friday morning after discovering that the school had been vandalized during the night.
Images shared online show walls and doors covered with obscene words and drawings. The act of vandalism came shortly after the school had been freshly repainted, a project that teachers, parents, and students had celebrated as a proud community achievement.
In a social media message, the school administration expressed disappointment over the incident and sorrow for the loss of respect and moral values reflected in such behavior. “We understand we live in a society where respect, empathy, and integrity are being lost. But we will not let evil win,” the post read.
Despite the damage, the school community says it remains hopeful and resilient. “We are strong in faith and unity, and we know that God’s protection is greater than any act of hate,” the school said.
Police have launched an investigation, and the school is asking anyone with information to report it to the authorities or the administration.
