Judge hands Sean “Diddy” Combs four-year prison term in New York

By Belize Live News Staff: Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was today sentenced to 50 months in federal prison after being convicted on two prostitution-related charges. Judge Arun Subramanian, presiding in a Manhattan federal courtroom, also ordered five years of supervised release and a US$500,000 fine.

The sentencing comes three months after a jury found Combs guilty of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted, however, of the more serious allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, which carried much harsher penalties.

Prosecutors had urged the court to impose a sentence of 11 years and three months, arguing that Combs had abused his power and caused physical and emotional harm to victims. Combs’ lawyers pressed for no more than 14 months, noting that he has been in custody since his September 2024 arrest and asking the court to consider time already served.

The judge rejected Combs’ request for a new trial or acquittal, pointing to the seriousness of the offenses, but also acknowledged the jury’s decision to clear him of the most severe charges.

Combs will remain behind bars for just over four years before facing five years of court supervision upon release. His legal team is expected to file an appeal in the coming weeks.

The case has attracted international attention due to Combs’ global status in the music and entertainment industry.
