By Belize Live News Staff: Quick police response led to the arrest of a suspected burglar in Belize City during the early hours of Monday morning.

At about 5:30 a.m. on September 22nd, officers rushed to a report of a burglary at Jay’z Pick and Wear near Mahogany and Jasmine Streets. When they arrived, they found a man inside the store wearing a ski mask.

The owner said she had been alerted by a call that someone was breaking into her shop. Officers soon discovered several bags filled with clothing and nail supplies, apparently prepared for removal.

The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Jimmy Rojas of Giles Street. He was charged with burglary on the scene. Police say the case is part of a broader pattern, as the Martin’s area has seen a spike in burglaries recently.
